FAQ
What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?
Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing or perhaps their dissatisfaction with life, or loss or a sense of direction and purpose.
Counsellors are professionally trained people who are skilled in listening and reflective skills enabling you to explore issues that are affecting your life. What takes place in the sessions is controlled by what you choose to discuss and explore. I will not tell you what to do or make decisions for you, but will work closely with you to achieve your agreed goals.
I aim to provide a safe, comfortable and confidential counselling and therapy service for Clients. I will encourage you to talk openly about what is troubling you and will listen carefully to what you say. The aim is to help you become clearer about the extent and affect of the issue, so as to recognise possible solutions.
How many sessions will I need?
Each individual session is usually 1 hour in duration.
Each person is different - so each client requires different amounts of sessions to resolve the issues. These sessions may be weekly or fortnightly and may be in individual or couple counselling.
How confidential is the service?
Confidentiality is about keeping discussions private unless there are good reasons to discuss risks factors with others. Confidentiality is maintained within the ethical and pratice guidelines of the IACP professional counselling and psychotherapy organisation.
How do I make an appointment ?
Please call 045 469067 or 087 2611226. If your call is not answered, it usually means I am busy seeing clients. Please leave your name and telephone contact details and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Do you offer evening appointments ?
Many clients are seen in the evenings around working times.
